About me

My story began with one very special Sphynx. Today, I combine breeding experience with knowledge of feline behaviour and continuing education.

Aggio Cat*PL: about me. Agnieszka Mianowska with a Sphynx, on our approved navy and black banner with subtle pink light trails and her signature.

My story began with one very special Sphynx. Today, I combine breeding experience with knowledge of feline behaviour and continuing education.

My story

My name is Agnieszka Mianowska. I am a Canadian Sphynx breeder, a certified feline behaviourist and Secretary of the FIFe Sphynx Breed Council.

Cats have always been part of my life, both ordinary domestic cats and pedigree cats with fur. But when I first saw a Sphynx, I could not stop thinking about it. It was love at first sight. At first, I admired photographs and absorbed everything I could learn about the breed. The first time I touched a Sphynx, I was completely won over. I knew I had to have one.

Then, quite by chance, Kosmo came into my life. He was a sick Sphynx kitten only a few weeks old, from an irresponsible, unregulated breeding operation. Treating him took an enormous amount of time, energy and money. He taught me more than I could have imagined about feline illness, diagnostics, treatment and the realities of veterinary care. I met many wonderful veterinarians, and a few whom I now avoid. For me, Kosmo became a symbol of how cruel and unethical breeding without oversight and responsibility can be.

That experience made me want to change things. I wanted to have a real influence on ethical, responsible and informed breeding: breeding that puts health, welfare and education first.

My path to breeding

I began attending cat shows as a visitor to meet Sphynx breeders, see their cats, learn the breed standard and understand judging. I wanted to be sure that my future cattery would meet the highest standards.

The next step was joining a feline club and choosing a cattery name. That is how Aggio Cat*PL came into being.

Aggio Cat combines parts of my first name and my partner’s name. He has supported me in running the cattery from the beginning. Thanks to him, our cats have metres of walkways, shelves, scratching posts and climbing structures. My ideas for making their lives more interesting are not always simple, but he knows how to turn them into reality.

Our first breeding female soon joined the family, followed a few months later by a male from Russia.

Knowledge supported by practice and education

Knowledge and development

From the beginning, I wanted my breeding decisions to rest on reliable, current knowledge as well as experience. For many years, I have regularly attended specialist courses, training sessions and seminars, putting what I learn into practice in everyday care.

I pay particular attention to reproduction, pregnancy, birth, neonatology and newborn care. These specialist areas are demanding, and a breeder’s knowledge can make a major difference to the health and safety of mothers and kittens.

I also continue to develop my understanding of genetics, preventive healthcare, feline behaviour, welfare and breed standards. My aim is responsible, informed breeding in which current medical knowledge, ethics and practical experience complement each other.

PawPeds G1, G2 and G3

I have completed all three levels of the international PawPeds education programme, covering genetics, health, welfare and responsible pedigree-cat breeding.

Feline behaviourist: Studium Kot

Over time, I became increasingly interested in cats’ psychological and emotional needs. I completed Studium Kot: Normal Behaviour and Behavioural Disorders, comprising 144 teaching hours of lectures and practical workshops. This knowledge helps me better understand and support both adult cats and kittens.

I continually develop my knowledge of health, welfare, genetics, behaviour and responsible breeding through specialist courses, seminars and training.
